Natural Hair Loss Treatments

There are many natural hair loss treatments available to both men and women. Visit a health food store to see what they have in stock. Everyone is different, so each nutrient and herb will react differently in each person.

Most health food stores should have arginine. Arginine is an amino acid. Arginine was originally isolated from a lupin seedling by a Swiss researcher. The most important roles it plays are in cell division, healing of wounds, immune function, removing ammonia from the body and releasing of hormones. It has also used in improving erectile dysfunction, heart disease, and sexual dysfunction in women.

Cysteine is another amino acid found in protein. Protein is needed for hair growth. Although not classified in as an essential amino acid, it is in meat, red peppers, garlic, onions, brussel sprouts, milk, oats, whey protien, broccoli, and wheat germ. It is used for heart disease, acetaminophen poisoning, respiratory illness, HIV/AIDS, prevention in the development of cataracts and macular degeneration, and improves the cognitive functioning of Alzheimer patients. Cysteine believed to be an asset to the quality, texture, and growth of hair.

Green Tea is available anywhere. By drinking several cups of green tea a day, it stimulates the blood flow, which, according to the beliefs of Chinese herbalists, encourages hair growth.

Saw Palmetto is also available in health food stores, and is most effective with pygeum and stinging nettle. It has been effective in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, or enlargement of the prostate. Finasteride is used for this condition as well, so it makes sense to use saw palmetto for hair loss, as well.

Vitamin B6 is taken through a multi vitamin, or with a healthy diet. It is a water-soluble compound. B6 prevents hair loss, and creates melanin, the compound that gives hair its color. High doses can create numbness in the feet and hands.

Fatty acids are either saturated or unsaturated. The human body can produce all but two of the fatty acids it needs. These two are found in fish and plants and are part of the omega-3 fatty acids group. Fatty acids are essential for healthy hair, skin, and nails. Essential fatty acids improve the quality of hair and its texture and growth.

No clinical studies have shown that saw palmetto, green tea, arginine, cysteine, vitamin B6 or fatty acids are essential to hair growth, however their benefits outweigh their negatives.
